The short version
Carverly only uses cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work: to keep you signed in, remember your basket and keep payments secure. We don’t use advertising cookies, we don’t track you across other sites, and we don’t use analytics cookies.
Because everything here is strictly necessary, the law doesn’t require us to ask before we set it. We show a notice anyway, so you know what’s happening. If we ever want to add anything optional, we’ll ask you first and it will stay off unless you say yes.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser so it can remember you between pages. Browser storage (local storage and session storage) does a similar job, but it stays on your device and isn’t sent to our servers.
Keeping you signed in
When you sign in, we set a cookie so you stay signed in as you move around Carverly. It lasts for 7 days and is renewed while you keep using the site, or until you sign out. Short-lived cookies also keep two-step sign-in and Google or Apple sign-in secure while you complete them. Our cookies are only sent over an encrypted connection, and scripts on the page can’t read them.
Keeping payments secure
When you pay, the card form is provided by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe sets its own cookies to spot fraud and keep payments secure, under its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they may set cookies on their own sites while you do, and their policies cover those.
Remembering your basket
We keep your basket in your browser, so it’s still there if you close the tab. Your collection time and the postcode or location you searched with are kept only until you close the tab. We also remember that you’ve seen the cookie notice, so we don’t keep showing it.
If you turn on notifications or add Carverly to your home screen, your browser also keeps what it needs to send them, which you can remove in your browser settings.
Your choice
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. If you block Carverly’s cookies you won’t be able to sign in or pay, and if you clear browser storage your basket will be emptied.
Changes and questions
If we change the cookies we use, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Our privacy policy explains how we look after your personal data more generally. Questions? Email privacy@carverly.co.uk.
